SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Raven Thompson has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 22-28 after averaging 14.5 points and 14 rebounds per game last week. The award is selected by the league office.
Thompson began her week recording the first double-double of her Chattanooga career as the Mocs defeated UNC Asheville, 60-48, on Wednesday, Nov. 23. She scored a career-best 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, while shooting 7-for-12 (.583) from the floor, against the Bulldogs.
The native of Atlanta, Georgia, followed that performance with nine points, a career-high 16 rebounds and three steals on Saturday, Nov. 26, in a 62-47 win over King University. Thompson’s 16 rebounds against King are the most by any player in the SoCon this season.
Chattanooga (5-3) travels to Georgia State on Wednesday, Nov. 30, before heading to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 3.
