SPARTANBURG, S.C. – App State’s Jon Jon Millner has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Nov. 16-22. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Millner, who is ranked No. 2 at 149 pounds, went 5-0 on Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The redshirt senior won his first two matches via pin over Virginia Tech wrestler Kylan Montgomery and Duke wrestler Patrick Rowland. Millner’s third win came over George Mason’s Nate Higley by a score of 15-1.
 
The final two victories came against ranked opponents as the Greensboro, North Carolina, native defeated 13th-ranked Rider wrestler Quinn Kinner, 9-1, before finishing his weekend with a 5-2 decision over 15th-ranked Doug Zapf, a two-time NCAA qualifier from Penn. The five victories for Millner gave him 102 career wins during his Mountaineer career, making him the seventh App State wrestler with 100-plus career wins.
 
The Mountaineers finished fourth in the 11-team field at the Keystone Classic, placing 13 wrestlers, including two champions.
 
App State travels to the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Dec. 2-3.
