SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Mikayla Dubnik has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Dubnik clinched the individual title at the Mercer Invitational at the par-72, 6,174-yard Brickyard Golf Course in Macon, Georgia, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, shooting a 2-under-par 214 to win by three strokes over Seminole State’s Pearl Phoncharatkun and Daytona State's Madison Tenore. The sophomore opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 on Monday before firing a 1-under 71 in the second round to sit atop the leaderboard at 3-under 141. Dubnik closed out the event with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to place first and complete the tournament as the only golfer in the 91-player field to finish below par. The Murrayville, Georgia, native averaged 71.33 strokes through three rounds and finished with 34 pars and 11 birdies throughout the tournament. The first-place finish is Dubnik’s first top-10 finish of the 2022-23 campaign.
 
Mercer claimed the tournament title in the 15-team field, completing the tournament with a 5-over 870 performance. The Bears shot 288 in the first round, 289 in the second, and 293 in the final round to claim their first team title of the season and secure wins over Georgia State (+24), Florida International (+30), Seminole State (+32) and UTEP (+34).
 
This marks Dubnik’s first weekly honor of the season and the second of her career.
 
Mercer’s fall slate is complete. The Bears return to action at the FAU Paradise Invitational at the Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Florida, on Feb. 6-7.
