SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman cross country runner Megan Marvin has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1. The selection is made by the conference office.
Marvin placed fifth at the Southern Conference Championship on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Johns Island County Park on Johns Island, South Carolina, posting a 5k time of 17:10.1 to help Furman to its 10th straight league title in the 10-team race with a perfect score of 15 points. The junior, who earned first-team All-SoCon honors this season, was also named the SoCon Pinnacle Award Winner as the athlete with the highest GPA on the championship-winning team.
The Chapel Hill, North Carolina, native maintains a 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in economics.
Furman will compete at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Nov. 11 at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
