Furman trio earns All-Southeast Region honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women’s cross country team placed Bethany Graham and Abigail Robertson on the All-Southeast Region team, while the men were represented by Dylan Schubert on the all-region team, as
released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top 25 finishers at each of Friday’s regional meets were honored as all-region selections.
On the men’s side, Schubert, a junior from Loveland, Colorado, paced the Paladins with a time of 29:50.1 on the 10K course for fourth place, qualifying automatically for this weekend’s NCAA Championships.
Graham, a junior from Aldie, Virginia, qualified automatically for the national championships on the women’s side by virtue of her fifth-place individual finish at Friday’s meet. She paced Furman with a time of 20:11.1 on the 6K course, notching her second consecutive all-region citation. Robertson, a senior from Marietta, Georgia, recorded a time of 20:37.8 to finish 15th, to join Graham on the all-region team.
Both Paladin teams claimed their 10th straight Southern Conference titles last month.
Schubert and Graham will compete at the NCAA Championships on Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women’s 6K will begin at 10:20 a.m. ET, with the men’s 10K to follow at 11:10 a.m. ET.
ETSU’s Guzman earns All-South Region honors
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – ETSU sophomore Evan Guzman was officially named to the NCAA Division I Cross Country All-South Region Team, as
released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top 25 finishers at each of Friday’s regional meets were honored as all-region selections.
Guzman finished 24th at the NCAA South Regional, while the Buccaneers placed 10th at the regional meet, which was held Friday morning at the John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, Alabama.
Guzman, who paced the Blue and Gold in all six meets this season, clocked in with a personal-best time of 30:22.5, over a minute faster than his previous best 10K time. The Franklin, Tennessee, native was in 37th early on and moved up 11 spots at the 3.4K mark before chasing down two runners near the finish line to post a top-25 finish.
