SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU soccer player Tarik Pannholzer has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 19-25. The selection is made by the conference office.
Pannholzer scored the game-winning goal in the Bucs’ 1-0 victory against Furman on Saturday, Oct. 22, in a key SoCon men's soccer match, securing a bye for ETSU in the conference tournament and a guaranteed home match for the semifinal round. The junior netted his goal in the 82nd minute after he rebounded his own blocked shot and found the back of the net in his second attempt to hand ETSU the 1-0 advantage. The goal against the Paladins was Pannholzer’s fourth of the season.
The Flensburg, Germany, native maintains a 3.89 grade point average and is majoring in sports management with a minor in brewing and distillation studies.
ETSU (7-7-2, 3-3-1 SoCon) will play its regular-season finale on Saturday, Oct. 29, as the Bucs travel to Macon, Georgia, for a conference match against Mercer at 7 p.m. ET.
