UNCG Finishes Fourth at White Sands Invitational

Spartans post a 40-over-par (904) 54-hole score

PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS - Competing as an individual, Anna Bowman shot a UNC Greensboro (UNCG) final round low one-over-par (73) as the Spartans finished fourth in the 54-hole White Sands Invitational at the par-72, 6,415-yard Ocean Club Golf Course.
 
The senior posted a one-under-par (35) back nine score thanks to three birdies on the back side. Starting her round on the 12th hole, Bowman collected back-to-back birdies on the par-five, 465-yard 16th hole and the par-four, 290-yard 17th. The senior's birdie on the par-four, 386-yard first hole completed a stretch of three birdies in four holes. Down the stretch, Bowman collected her final birdie on the par-four, 389-yard tenth hole for her third birdie on a par four hole. Bowman's final round effort moved her eight spots up the leaderboard to a tie for 34th with a 54-hole score of 20-over-par (236).
 
Alex Phelps finished in 15th place overall with a 54-hole total of nine-over-par (225) thanks to a two-over-par (74) final round effort. The freshman posted an even-par (36) score on the back nine thanks to a back-to-back birdie stretch on the 16th and 17th holes.
 
Julia Baeumken and Ava Romfo finished in a tie for 16th place with a 54-hole total of eleven-over-par (227). Baeumken made four birdies on the day, including a birdie on the par-four, 372-yard eleventh hole which stood as the fourth-hardest hole throughout the tournament. Baeumken finished the final round four-over-par (76). Romfo made three birdies and posted an unblemished back nine scorecard with a two-under-par (34) back side score. Romfo birdied the par-five, 512-yard 13th hole and the par-four, 324-yard 15th hole on the way to a two-over-par (74) final round score.
 
The Spartans finished the final round 12-over-par (300) for their best round of the event. UNCG posted a 40-over-par (904) 54-hole score, good for fourth place.

  • Baeumken's three-over-par effort on the course's par four holes stood in a tie for third.
