SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The NCAA Division I Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Elizabeth Rabb to the Division I Council. Rabb, Wofford College’s deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator, replaces Samford Director of Athletics Martin Newton, who recently stepped down from the body due to his appointment to the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee.

Rabb is the first senior woman administrator to represent the Southern Conference on the committee.

“I honored and excited to represent the Southern Conference on the Council and will work diligently to make sure our membership’s voice in heard during this time of unprecedented change in Division I athletics,” Rabb said.

The Division I Council is responsible for the day-to-day operations and decision-making for the division and includes representatives from each Division I conference. The Council is comprised of athletics directors, athletics administrators, senior woman administrators, faculty athletics representatives and two student-athletes.

Rabb’s term of service on the committee will begin immediately and continue through June 30, 2026.
