UNCG in Fourth After Two Days at White Sands Invitational

Spartans 28-over-par (604) through 36 holes

PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS - Julia Baeumken posted a second round one-over-par (73) effort to lead the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team through 36 holes of the White Sands Invitational at the par-72, 6,415-yard Ocean Club Golf Course Saturday morning and afternoon.
 
Baeumken posted two birdies on the day with her first coming on the par-four 382-yard ninth hole, the tournament's third-hardest hole through two rounds. The freshman also conquered the tournament's fourth-hardest hole, the par-four, 372-yard eleventh hole. Baeumken jumped 13 spots on the leaderboard, standing just one shot from a top-ten spot in a tie for eleventh place with a total score of seven-over-par (151).
 
Alexandra Phelps also stands in a tie for eleventh place individually after she shot four-over-par (76) on day two. The freshman also birdied the ninth hole for the first of her four birdies on the day. Phelps mounted a stretch on the back nine where she posted three birdies in four holes. She conquered both par five holes on the back side, the 13th and 16th holes, and also added a birdie on the par-four, 324-yard 15th. Phelps posted an even-par (36) score on the back nine to keep her one shot outside the top-ten golfers.
 
Ava Romfo and Grace Holcomb each posted a five-over-par (77) second round scorecard. Romfo posted both of her birdies on par three holes with a birdie on the 164-yard third hole and the 181-yard 12th. Holcomb's birdies came on the 13th hole and the par-four, 290-yard 17th. Romfo currently stands in a tie for 17th place at nine-over-par (153) while Holcomb stands in a tie for 29th place at 12-over-par (156).
 
The Spartans are in fourth place through 36 holes after a 15-over-par (303) second round finish. UNCG is 28-over-par (604) through 36 holes and stands just two shots off Arkansas State in third place and three shots off Central Arkansas in second place.
