PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf junior Victoria Cook cracked the top-five individual finishes as the Spartans stood in third place through 18 holes of the 54-hole White Sands Invitational, hosted by Little Rock Arkansas, Friday morning and afternoon.
Cook's day started on the 15th hole on the par-72, 6,415-yard course where she shot one-over-par for her first four holes. The junior posted two birdies on the front nine to finish the side two-under-par (34). Her birdie on the par-four, 386-yard first hole was the only birdie on the afternoon at the tournament's fourth-hardest hole. Cook also posted only one of two birdies on the par-four, 402-yard fifth hole to close out an unblemished front side. Cook's even-par (72) first round score earned her a share for fourth place just three shots off the lead. This was her best round of her collegiate career and first time making par.

The freshman's two birdies came on the par-three, 166-yard eighth hole and her opening hole of the day on the par-three, 168-yard 14th. Phelps stands one shot out of a tie for sixth place and three shots off a spot in the top-five individuals.
