SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG soccer player Nadia Wilson has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 12-18. The selection is made by the conference office.
Wilson started in both of UNCG contests last week as the Spartans went 2-0 with a 3-0 win over Furman on Friday, Oct. 14, and a 4-0 victory over Wofford on Sunday, Oct. 16. In the game against the Paladins, Wilson scored a goal in the 22nd minute off an assist from Parker Sikora. The sophomore defender scored a goal and had an assist in the contest with the Terriers. Wilson assisted on the first goal of the game in the 18th minute, finding Eliza Radoll for a score before netting her own goal 90 seconds later to hand the Spartans a 2-0 lead. The two goals last week were Wilson's first of the season.
Wilson was also named the SoCon Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
The Upper Marlboro, Maryland, native maintains a 3.81 grade point average and is majoring in nursing.
UNCG (7-7-2, 3-3-1 SoCon) travels to Charleston, South Carolina, on Friday, Oct. 21, for a conference match against The Citadel (8-7-0, 3-4-0) at 3 p.m. ET before traveling to Macon, Georgia, on Sunday, Oct. 23, for a conference match against Mercer (8-3-5, 3-1-3) at 2 p.m. ET.
