SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Dylan Schubert and Samford’s McKenzie Hogue have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, after all competition Oct 12-18.
Schubert turned in a season-best and SoCon-leading 8K time of 23:25.90 to finish 12
th out of 239 finishers at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday. The junior from Loveland, Colorado, who earned his second weekly award of the season, helped the Paladins to a 27
th-place finish in the 33-team field, which included 19 nationally ranked squads.
Hogue also claimed her second weekly award of the season. The senior from Alabaster, Alabama, finished fifth overall and fourth among attached runners at the Alabama Crimson Classic at the Harry Pritchett Running Course in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday. Hogue turned in a time of 20:19.2 over the 6K course, helping the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish in the 19-team field, which included 180 finishers and 19 teams, including sixth-ranked Alabama, which won its home meet.
All 20 league men’s and women’s programs are back in action at the SoCon Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Johns Island County Park in Johns Island, South Carolina.
