SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Dylan Christopher and Jenna Reiter have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, after all competition Oct 5-11.
 
Christopher finished fourth overall out of 257 finishers in the Men’s 8K Gold race at the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday. The graduate student from Hendersonville, North Carolina, turned in a career-best time of 24:35.8 to help the Spartans to a third-place finish in the 28-team field en route to his first career weekly SoCon honor.
 
Reiter was UNCG’s top finisher in the Women’s 5K Gold race at the Royals XC Challenge. The junior from Morehead City, North Carolina, crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 18:43.6, good for 39th place among 269 finishers and helping the Spartans to an 11th-place team finish in the 27-team field. The SoCon weekly award is the first of her career.
 
UNCG is idle until the SoCon Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Johns Island County Park in Johns Island, South Carolina. The league’s other nine schools wrap regular-season competition this Friday and Saturday.
