UNCG Men’s Soccer No. 25 in First RPI Report

Spartans hold an 8-1-3 overall record

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NCAA released its first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) report of the season on Monday, October 10, with the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team sitting at No. 25.
 
The Spartans who are 8-1-3 overall and 2-0 in SoCon play are the top SoCon team in the RPI report with the next conference school, Furman, marked at No. 138.  UNCG is the third school from North Carolina in the rankings, as Duke is No. 2 and Wake Forest is No. 16.
 
UNCG remains unbeaten against three teams in the top-40: SMU (No. 6), Louisville (No. 8), and Elon (No. 39).
 
On Monday, the Spartans received a No. 13 ranking from TopDrawerSoccer and No. 21 ranking from College Soccer News.
 
Last week, the Spartans fell from the United Soccer Coaches National Poll and are receiving votes for the second-straight week after being ranked for three-straight weeks.
 
UNCG continues to be the highest non-ACC school ranked in the United Soccer Coaches South Region. The Spartans are ranked No. 6, with Campbell University taking the 10th spot, as the only other non-ACC school this week. The Spartans are sandwiched between Clemson University which is fifth and the University of Virginia which is seventh.
 
Nationally, the Spartans are fifth in goal differential (22), seventh in total goals (30), 10th in total points (86), 13th in corner kicks per game (7.25), 13th in team goals against average (0.667), 15th in scoring offense (2.50), 16th in shots on goal per game (7.25), 17th in total assists (26), 18th in points per game (7.17), 18th in won-lost-tied percentage (0.792), 23rd in shot accuracy (0.486), and 25th in assists per game (2.17).
 
UNCG leads the SoCon in assist per game, corner kicks per game, goal differential, points per game, scoring offense, shot accuracy, shots per game, shots on goal per game, team goals against average, total assists, total goals, total points, and won-lost-tied percentage.

The Spartans travel to Clemson, South Carolina for their final regular season non-conference contest with Clemson University tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11 with a start time of 7:00 p.m.
 
The Tigers are fifth in the United Soccer Coaches South Region, No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, No. 12 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll, and No. 16 in the College Soccer News Poll. Clemson is No. 7 in the first installment of the NCAA RPI.
