Four on FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team

Furman's Sisson, Chattanooga's Cole among finalists for FCS ADA Postgraduate Scholarships

CLEVELAND – Four Southern Conference football players are among 50 student-athletes nationwide named to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team, while Furman’s Hamp Sisson and Chattanooga’s Cole Strange are additionally among nine finalists for two FCS ADA Postgraduate Scholarships worth $5,000 apiece.

Sisson, a senior quarterback, was joined on the Academic All-Star Team by Paladin teammate and classmate Timmy Bleekrode, a punter/placekicker. Strange, a senior offensive lineman, was joined by Mocs teammate CaMiron Smith, a junior defensive back.

The 50 individuals were selected from a pool of 113 applicants.

Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
