SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Taye Ghadiali has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 19-25. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Ghadiali, who is ranked No. 24 in the first NCAA coaches' rankings of the 2021-22 season, went 2-0 this weekend at 285 pounds, earning a pair of wins over ranked opponents at Sunday’s dual match against The Citadel and No. 5 NC State in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The redshirt sophomore heavyweight secured a 6-1 decision over The Citadel's No. 30 Michael McAleavey, the 2021 SoCon champion, before closing out the day with a 9-6 victory over NC State’s No. 23 Tyrie Houghton. Following the two wins, the Warren, Michigan, native improved to 13-2 on the season, including a 6-1 dual record.

The Camels (7-4, 2-0 SoCon) host Chattanooga (3-8, 1-0 SoCon) and VMI (1-6, 0-2 SoCon) on Sunday, Jan. 30, in Buies Creek, North Carolina, for a conference match against the Mocs at 1 p.m. ET and a conference match against the Keydets at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Also nominated: Wyatt Miller (App State), Eric Beck (Bellarmine), Mitchell Trigg (Davidson) and Jha’Quan Anderson (Gardner-Webb).
