MURRAY, Ky. - The No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team used a strong air rifle performance to take down UAB in SoCon action Friday evening at Murray State, 4614-4572.
The Blazers had a two point advantage after smallbore, but the Nighthawks shot a 2344 in air rifle to storm away, winning the discipline by 44 points.
Jayne Fraley was the top shooter for UNG, shooting an 1155 aggregate score, one point higher than Jaden Fraser and three points better than Kevin Vaughn. Fraley and Fraser each shot 588 air rifle scores to lead the way, while Vaughn shot a personal best 585.
Alyssa Kiser was the top smallbore shooter for the Nighthawks, firing a 570 that started with a perfect 100 string. Lindsey Slaten also had a personal best 566 in air rifle.
North Georgia will next be in action Sunday as they take on No. 20 UT Martin on the road.
