NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams opened the season Saturday morning at the CSU Buc Invitational. The men's team finished second, while the women's team finished fourth.
 
Men's Results

• The Bulldogs finished second behind Charleston Southern and ahead of the College of Charleston.
• Sam Sharnas led the way for the Bulldogs by finishing fourth with a time of 19:44.4.
• Andrew Smith joined Sharnas in the Top 10 with a 10^th-place finish in a time of 20:09.6.
• Ty Duben finished in a time of 20:20.0 to finish in the 13^th place.
• Alex Wulfhorst was the fourth finisher for the Bulldogs, finishing 18^th with a time of 20:54.0.
• Devon Heisler was the final counter in the team score with a time of 21:13.0 to finish 23^rd.
• Freshman Jared Campbell ran a 21:42.3 in his first career race.

 
Women's Results

• The Bulldogs finished fourth in a race that featured seven teams.
• Heidi Fortin paced the team with a 6^th-place finish in a time of 18:56.0.
• The duo of Rebecca McCorkendale and Gabby Shea finished back-to-back. McCorkendale finished 19^th with a time of 20:38.7 and Shea 20^th with a time of 21:21.9.
• Amber Opp placed 22^nd with a time of 21:41.2.
• Lilly Inman and Kennedy DeLancy each competed in their first career races. Inman finished with a time of 24:10.5 and DeLancy in a time of 25:03.9.
