SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford women’s soccer forward Kyla Reynolds has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Sept. 22-28. The selection is made by the conference office.
Reynolds tallied two goals for the Bulldogs in their two conference victories this week, with the junior delivering a goal in each of Samford’s 3-0 shutouts over VMI and UNCG. In Friday’s night’s victory over the Keydets, Reynolds netted a goal in the 76
th minute, adding to the Bulldogs’ offensive attack to give Samford the 3-0 advantage. In Sunday’s win over the Spartans, she scored in the 86
th minute, helping Samford grab their second consecutive conference victory to improve to 2-0 in SoCon play. The Rome, Georgia, native led the Bulldogs with nine shots, including six shots on goal.
Reynolds, who is a member of the SoCon Academic Honor Roll and All-Academic Team, retains a 3.97 grade point average and is majoring in marketing.
Samford (5-3-2, 2-0 SoCon) travels to Macon, Georgia, on Friday for a conference match against Mercer at 5 p.m., then will end the weekend with another conference match at The Citadel on Sunday afternoon.
