SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Anna Morgan has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 22-28. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Morgan claimed her first career individual medalist honors and led Furman to a 32-stroke team title (-23) at the 47th Lady Paladin Invite in Greenville, South Carolina, at Furman University Golf Club. The junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina, posted a 13-under-par 203, which set the record for the tournament’s lowest 54-hole total. The previous record of 205 was set in 2016 by Daytona State’s Jiwon Jeon. Furman’s 54-hole total of 841 also set a tournament record, shattering the previous record of 853 that was set by Texas in 2016. 

Morgan opened the tournament on Friday with a 7-under-par 65 with a hole-in-one on No. 16, an eagle on No. 13 and four birdies. On Saturday, she fired a 5-under-par 67 to keep a steady lead in the field of 72 participants. In the tournament's final round, she made the turn at 1-over before scoring back-to-back birdies on No. 12 and No. 13.? On No. 18, after finding a fairway bunker on her tee shot, she flew the green on her approach but holed out her chip shot from 30 feet behind the green to take a 7-stroke victory.   

This marks Morgan's second weekly honor of her career. 

Furman will compete at North Carolina’s Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Oct. 15-17.
