Four former Southern Conference football players played at MetLife Stadium on Sunday when the New York Giants hosted the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons’
Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern) came through at the last second in Atlanta’s 17-14 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. The former Georgia Southern Eagle kicked the game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired, marking his first ever game-winning kick. He also went 2-for-2 on extra points, totaling five points on the day and assisting Atlanta to its first win of the season.
There’s officially a trio of former SoCon football players on the New York Giants after
C.J. Board (Chattanooga) was signed to the team’s 53-man roster on Saturday, joining
James Bradberry (Samford) and
Keion Crossen (Western Carolina). Board, who was elevated from the practice squad for the Giants' first two games, had one reception for 38 yards Sunday against the Falcons, making the catch as he stepped out of bounds.
Bradberry recorded one assist and a pass breakup in the Giants’ effort to stop the Falcons’ offense from reaching the redzone.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’
Dee Delaney (The Citadel) led all former SoCon football players this week with four solo tackles against the Los Angeles Rams, marking his second week with at least three total tackles.
Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers’
Jaquiski Tartt (Samford) tallied three solo tackles and an assist against the Green Bay Packers. San Francisco came up short 30-28, from a last-second 51-yard Packers field goal. Tartt has made at least four tackles in the first three games of the season.
Sam Martin (App State) punted three times averaging 40.7 yards in the Broncos’ 26-0 shutout over the New York Jets.
