SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Theo Collomb and Spartans defender Emmanuel Hagan have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 21-27.
 
Collomb tallied five goals, two assists, and 12 points to lead the Spartans to a pair of huge victories this past week, including UNCG’s 3-1 win over second-ranked Clemson on Tuesday night. In the Spartans’ victory over the Tigers, Collomb netted two goals, helping UNCG clinch one of the biggest victories in program history to hand Clemson their first loss of the 2021 season. Collomb notched his first career hat trick during a 7-0 victory over VMI in the Spartans' Southern Conference opener on Saturday, with the sophomore forward scoring goals in the fourth, 15th and 40th minutes of the match. He also finished the match with two assists, supporting on goals from Maycol Reyes in the seventh minute and Micah Albert in the 17^th.  Following his two sensational scoring performances, the Clermont, France, native was named the College Soccer News and TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Week. Collomb leads the nation in goals per game (1.38), points per game (3.12), goals (11), and points (25) and is third in the NCAA in game-winning goals (3) and eighth in shots per game (2.25). He has registered 19 career goals during his time as a Spartan.
 
Hagan was a key component for the UNCG defense in its win over Clemson, helping the Spartans hold the Tigers, who entered the match leading the nation in goals at 3.6 per game, to just one tally. Hagan, a sophomore from Accra, Ghana, also assisted UNCG in grabbing its fifth clean sheet of the season in its win over VMI.
 
UNCG (6-2-1, 1-0 SoCon) plays at Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, then will travel to Mercer (3-4-1, 1-0-1) on Saturday for its second conference match of the season.
