SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After earning the SoCon Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday, UNCG outside hitter Kayla White secures her second honor this week and has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Sept. 15-21. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
White averaged 4.10 kills per set this weekend as the Spartans went 2-1 in the UNCW Hampton Inn & Suites Landfall Classic. In a 3-1 loss to Campbell on Friday, the outside hitter tallied 12 kills and added 21 digs, two blocks, an assist and a service ace. The native of Montgomery, Alabama, opened play the following day with a match-high 13 kills, adding eight digs and an ace in a sweep of Jacksonville before again tallying a match-high 16 kills (.412), in a sweep of host UNCW. In the win over the Seahawks, White added five digs, an ace, and two blocks. She currently ranks 15^th in the nation this year in total kills with 185 and has been selected as an NCAA Woman of the Year finalist for the 2021 season.
 
The graduate student retains a 3.83 grade point average and is pursuing her master’s degree in business administration.
 
UNCG (11-2, 0-0 SoCon) opens conference play this Friday, as the Spartans travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for a match against the Mocs (4-9, 0-0 SoCon) before heading to Johnson City, Tennessee, for a Saturday matchup against ETSU (4-7, 0-0 SoCon).
