SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Esme Hamilton and Dorota Zalewska have been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfers of the Week for all fall competition through September 21. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Hamilton and Zalewska tied for second at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the Cherokee Country Club, each carding a 2-under-par 211. The pair led the Mocs to a tie for third with ranked wins over host Tennessee (2), Texas Tech (4), Maryland (5), Virginia Tech (7), ETSU (9), Kent State (14), Middle Tennessee (16) and Mercer (26). Virginia Tech, Kent State & Maryland all reached the NCAA Championships in the spring.  

Hamilton opened the fall slate by earning her second runner up title over her last four events through last spring. The junior from Nottingham, England, averaged 70.33 strokes per round with nine birdies and 38 pars through the 54-hole course. She fired a 1-over-par 72 during Monday’s first round before turning in a 1-under-par for the second round. Hamilton wrapped up the tournament with a 2-under-par 69 in the final round. 

Zalewska carded a career-low 2-under-par (211) and averaged 70.33 strokes per round. The Szcecin, Poland, native totaled eight birdies and 40 pars to secure her second-place finish. She opened the tournament with a weekly low 3-under-par 68 and shot 71(E) and 72(+1) in the last two rounds, respectively.  

This marks Hamilton’s second weekly honor of her career, while it’s Zalewska’s first.  

The Mocs return to action on Friday, September 24, in the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee.
