Thirteen on Phil Steele Preseason All-American teams

SoCon places four on first and second teams and five on third team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Thirteen Southern Conference student-athletes earned spots on the preseason Phil Steele/draftscout.com FCS All-American Teams announced Sunday. The SoCon put four players on the first team, four on the second team and five on the third team.
 
ETSU, Chattanooga and VMI led the SoCon with three selections apiece. The Citadel, Furman, Samford and Wofford had one selection each.
 
VMI led the way with two first-team selections in wide receiver Jakob Herres and linebacker Stone Snyder. Furman tight end Ryan Miller and Citadel linebacker Willie Eubanks III joined them on the first team.
 
ETSU linebacker Jared Folks and all-purpose back Quay Holmes were joined on the second team by Chattanooga offensive lineman Cole Strange and Wofford fullback Nathan Walker.
 
The SoCon was represented on the third team by offensive linemen Tre’mond Shorts of ETSU and McClendon Curtis of Chattanooga, defensive lineman Devonnsha Maxwell of Chattanooga, defensive back Chris Edmonds of Samford and long snapper Robert Soderholm of VMI.
