GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman’s Ryan Adams set a new Paladin program record with a time of 3:37.66 in the 1,500-meter run Friday night at the Oregon Twilight Meet at historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
 
A senior from Hudson, Ohio, Adams, whose time was just .16 off an Olympic trials automatic qualifying time, broke his own previous school record of 3:37.82, which he posted earlier this season at the EKU Rick Erdmann Twilight.  He placed fifth overall and fourth among collegiate competitors, with the top seven finishers eclipsing the previous meet record of 3:38.60, which was set in 2008.
 
Adams turned in a time of 3:38.74 in the event to take gold last month at the 111th edition of the Drake Relays, cutting exactly three seconds off a meet record that had stood since 1990. The SoCon champion in the 800-meter run and 1,500m, he currently sits in 10th place on the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List and ranks fifth in the East region.
