Commish Chat Episode 25: Emma Kuntz

Commissioner Jim Schaus chats with Furman cross country/track runner Emma Kuntz

Commish Chat is a series of one-on-one interviews between Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus and various student-athletes, coaches, administrators, media members and more as they discuss SoCon athletics and issues that affect college athletics on a broader scale.

Schaus's guest for Episode 25 is Furman cross country/track runner Emma Kuntz. The senior from Louisville, Kentucky, will be competing in the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Florida, later this week in the 800-meter run. The eight-time SoCon champion also excels in the classrom, as she was recently awarded a SoCon postgraduate scholarship and will pursue a doctorate in operations in research.

Schaus and Kuntz talk about the upcoming NCAA East Preliminary; the key to the success Kuntz has had in her career; the challenges of balancing her athletic and academic responsibilities and her success in both; her career goals; and what it has meant to her to be a student-athlete in the Southern Conference.
