CLEVELAND – VMI wide receiver Jakob Herres was named to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association All-America Team on Thursday.
 
This award recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions at 11 different positions. The 2020-21 class includes student-athletes from nine different institutions, representing nine different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors. In the eight years of the program, the associations' teams have had 12 of the 13 FCS conferences with at least one award winner, while 55 different schools have been represented.
 
The award is just the latest in a recent string of them for Herres, who was named to the Associated Press and Stats Perform All-America first teams, as well. Herres was also a finalist for the Stats Perform Walter Payton Award and was named the offensive end Player of the Year for Division I colleges and universities in the commonwealth of Virginia by the Touchdown Club of Richmond. The Easton, Pennsylvania, native was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Year both the league’s coaches and media and was also the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month for April.
 
Herres led the Keydets in receiving during the season with 80 catches for 978 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 12.2 yards per grab and 122.2 yards per game, all of which led the Southern Conference. His total receiving yards and receiving yards per game lead the FCS.
