SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Lauren Lightfritz has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week and Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from March 30 through April 6. The selection is made by the conference office. 
 
Lightfritz carded an even-par 216 and captured her first collegiate win in the last regular-season event of her career at Mercer’s Brickyard Collegiate on Tuesday. She outplayed the Nos. 36, 38, 78, 94 and 96 players in the country and led Mercer to a second-place finish. She opened the tournament Monday with an even-par 72 and shot a 1-under 71 in round two before firing a final-round 1-over 73 Tuesday. The graduate student from Suwanee, Georgia, recorded her third top-10 finish of the season and the ninth of her career. Her performance was also the second top-3 finish of her career, as she claimed runner-up honors at the Mercer Invitational in the fall.  
 
Lightfritz holds a perfect 4.00 grade point average and is earning her master’s in organizational leadership with a concentration in development and change. 
 
The Bears wrapped up their regular season with the Brickyard Collegiate and will compete at the 2020-21 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship, which will be held on April 19-20 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Johns Island, South Carolina.
