Greenville, S.C. – Furman’s Arnor Adalsteinsson has been selected to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, it was announced on Monday morning.
 
Adalsteinsson, a native of Reykjavik, Iceland, anchored the Furman defense at center back as the Paladins recorded shutouts of Belmont and Wofford to conclude the regular season. On Tuesday, he played he guided Furman to a 3-0 victory in Nashville, Tenn., that helped the Paladins clinch their 21^st Southern Conference regular season title. Just two days later, Adalsteinsson and the Paladins played to a 0-0 double overtime draw versus Wofford.
 
The Paladins (7-1-1, 5-0-1 SoCon), ranked No. 25 in today’s Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 and No. 26 in the College Soccer News Top 30, will begin its quest for an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament when the No. 1 seeded Paladins host No. 4 seed Belmont in the semifinal round of the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Championship at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 9, at Stone Soccer Stadium.
 
The winner of Friday night’s match will advance to face the winner of Saturday’s UNCG-ETSU contest in the SoCon Championship Match the following weekend. If Furman advances, the Paladins would host the title match at Stone Stadium on Saturday, April 17.
