SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Hayleigh Weissenbach and the Mocs’ Brooke Parrott have been named the Southern Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for games played March 29-April 4, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Weissenbach hit a blistering .778, going 7-for-9 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBIs as Chattanooga swept ETSU over the weekend. The fifth-year senior began the series by going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in the Mocs’ 1-0 win. Later the afternoon, the native of Moreno Valley, California, went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored in a 3-2 victory. Weissenbach collected the first four-hit game of her career in the series finale on Sunday, recording a double, a home run and two RBIs. The two-run home run came in the top of the 10^th inning, breaking a scoreless tie and putting Chattanooga ahead 2-0 en route to a 3-2 11^th-inning win.
 
Parrott, a junior, went 1-0 with a save, amassing a 0.00 ERA and not allowing a run in 11 innings pitched over the weekend. The native of Harrison, Tennessee, fired a complete-game three-hit shutout in Friday’s series-opening win, tying a season high with five strikeouts. Parrott started the series finale on Saturday and ultimately earned a save after exiting and returning in relief. She pitched 4 innings and allowed only two hits while striking out a pair.
 
Chattanooga (8-16, 4-1 SoCon) plays a doubleheader at Mercer (16-14, 1-2) on Saturday, April 10, and concludes the three-game series with a single game on Sunday, April 11.
