WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tewaaraton Foundation announced additions to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award watch list Friday, with Jacksonville attack Jack Dolan and Richmond attack Ryan Lanchbury joining the list.
Dolan and Lanchbury join High Point attack Asher Nolting and Richmond goalkeeper Jack Rusbuldt, who were on the initial watch list announced March 11. Lanchbury’s addition marks the first time in program history the Spiders have had two members on the watch list in the same season.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Dolan, a Columbus, Ohio, native has 17 goals and 14 assists, totaling 31 points, so far this season.
He has scored 54 goals and handed out 55 assists in his career, and his 109 points are tied for fourth all-time in program history. He's on pace to flirt with the second spot on the list held by Cameron Mann (139 points) by the end of this season, with at least one year of eligibility remaining for the redshirt junior.
This year marks the second straight year Lanchbury has been on the list and the first time a Spider has been on the list in back-to-back years.
Lanchbury is the fifth different Spider in the eight-year history of the Richmond men’s lacrosse program to be named to the watch list. He joins the likes of Rusbuldt (2020), Teddy Hatfield (2019), Benny Pugh (2017) and Mitch Goldberg (2016).
Lanchbury leads the Spiders and the Southern Conference in scoring with 39 points in seven games this year. He ranks 10th in the nation in points per game at 5.57. He has scored 16 goals this year while dishing out 23 assists. He leads the SoCon and ranks fifth in the nation with 3.29 assists per game.
The field for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees on April 23. Nominees can be players from the watch list or not from the watch list, effectively allowing for another round of additions.
Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
