SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Emma Kuntz has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 7- 13. The selection is made by the conference office.
Kuntz took home silver in the 800-meter run to lead the Paladins at the prestigious Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Friday. She crossed the finish line with a time of 2:05.99, which at the time of the race, ranked 11th on the NCAA East preliminaries qualifying list. The time currently ranks 15th on the qualifying list for the regional meet, which will feature the top 32 athletes in each event in the East Region. Kuntz’s time was just 0.14 seconds off the program record of 2:05.95, which Kuntz set in 2019.
The senior from Louisville, Kentucky, holds a 3.92 grade point average and is majoring in applied mathematics.
Next up for the Paladins is a trip to Richmond, Kentucky, for the EKU Invitational on April 16-17 and the USC open in Columbia, South Carolina, on April 17.
