SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tereza Melecka has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 24-30. The selection is made by the conference office. 
 
Melecka earned her second golfer of the week honor of the season and the fourth of her career after finishing first in a field of 71 players at the Chattanooga Classic on Tuesday, March 30. She finished the tournament at 4-under-par 212 to win by two shots over Chattanooga’s Esme Hamilton, making them the only two golfers in the 71-player field to finish with a 54-hole score below par. She began her run at the Chattanooga Classic with a first-round score of 4-under 68 before firing two straight rounds of even-par, averaging 70.67 strokes.
 
The senior from Belcovice, Czech Republic, led all players with 13 birdies, while having the top scoring averages on the par-4s (4.03) and par-5s (4.67) en route to becoming the second Buccaneer to earn medalist honors this season.
 
ETSU won by seven shots over Iowa and Chattanooga, finishing with a team score of 23-over-par 887. Melecka’s performance helped guide the Bucs to gold for the second time this year, which marks the first time since the 2013-14 season that ETSU has won multiple events. 
 
The Bucs wrapped up their regular season with the Chattanooga Classic and have their eyes set on the 2020-21 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship, which will be held on April 19-20 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Johns Island, South Carolina.
