SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU sophomore Tyler Keltner has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from March 24-30. The selection is made by the conference office.
Keltner, the SoCon Football Special Teams Player of the Week presented by GEICO, set a school record in Saturday’s 24-17 win over Western Carolina in the annual Blue Ridge Border Battle. The Tallahassee, Florida, native laced a program-record 54-yard field goal to end the first half, tying the game at 17 points heading into the locker room. Keltner’s 54-yard field goal surpassed George Cimadevilla’s previous record, a 52-yard field goal against James Madison in 1986. Keltner also converted all three of his extra-point attempts on the day. His field goal is the longest one in the conference this season and the fifth-longest made in the FCS.
Keltner holds a 3.65 grade point average and is majoring in finance.
Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: Kyle Barks (Belmont men’s soccer), Maycin Brown (UNCG softball) and Christian Snyder (Chattanooga football).
