SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga forward Chloe Arnold and UNC Greensboro goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all games from Feb. 23-March 1. The players of the week are selected by the league office.
Arnold scored the game-winner off of a penalty kick in the Mocs’ season-opener, a 2-0 win over North Alabama on Feb. 26. The senior forward from Bristol, Tennessee, took a game-high three shots, two of which were on goal.
Tyler-Cooper helped the Spartans to a scoreless draw at NC State on Feb. 24, halting a three-game win streak for the Wolfpack. The native of Charlottesville, Virginia, faced 20 shots and played all 110 minutes in her first appearance of the season. Two of Tyler-Cooper’s three saves came in the second half to force overtime.
Both teams return to action on Friday, March 5, for the start of conference play. Chattanooga (1-0) hosts Samford (0-1-1), while UNCG (0-1-1) is at ETSU (0-2).
Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Whitney Edwards-Roberson (VMI).
Also nominated for defensive player of the week: Abbey Saddler (Chattanooga).
