SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro’s Isaiah Miller has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Feb. 23-27 after averaging 30 points and leading the Spartans to their fifth regular-season SoCon title. The award is selected by the league office and is the final one of the 2020-21 season.
 
Miller, who was named the CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week on Monday, opened his week with 28 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals in an 81-80 setback to Western Carolina on Wednesday. Miller became just the second player in league history to surpass 300 career steals in the contest.
 
The senior from Covington, Georgia, was even better Saturday at ETSU, finishing with a career-high 32 points in the 85-74, overtime win, which put the Spartans back on top of the league standings for good on the final day of the regular season. Miller added seven steals, seven assists, four steals and a blocked shot. He was 13-for-19 (.684) from the floor on the day and scored seven of his points in the decisive extra period.
 
For the week, Miller averaged 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game to complement his 30.0 points per outing. He shot 52.2 percent from the floor (24-for-46).
 
Top-seeded UNCG (18-8, 13-5 SoCon), which won its fifth SoCon regular-season title, returns to action Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Ingles SoCon Basketball Championship presented by General Shale Brick. The Spartans will face either No. 8 seed The Citadel (12-11, 5-11) or No. 9 seed Western Carolina (11-15, 4-13) at noon.
