Notes:
• Furman hosts Chattanooga and Mercer welcomes Western Carolina for an Ingles Southern Conference Games of the Week doubleheader on select Nexstar affiliates to highlight Saturday’s league slate.

• The Paladins and the Mocs will meet at noon Eastern in a battle of ranked squads. Chattanooga is No. 11 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, while Furman sits 13th in that poll. The Paladins are No. 11 in the AFCA poll, with the Mocs tied for 12th right behind them. Furman has won the last three games in the series.

• Chattanooga enters the game 2-0 in league play, half a game back of VMI. The Mocs have already beaten one ranked opponent this season in then-No. 11 Wofford. Furman is 3-1 in the SoCon standings.

• Game two of the Nexstar doubleheader gets under way at 4 p.m. Western Carolina will look to make it two straight wins Saturday, while Mercer tries to get back in the win column after falling to VMI last weekend. Both the Catamounts and the Bears have beaten The Citadel for their lone wins of the season.

• Western Carolina running back Donnavan Spencer turned in just the 15th 200-yard rushing game in school history in last week’s 21-14 win over The Citadel. The senior ran for a career-best 220 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 45 yards to amass a career-best 265 all-purpose yards en route to SoCon Offensive Player of the Week presented by GEICO honors. His all-purpose total is a single-game high by an FCS player this season, while his 220 rushing yards are the second-most in a game.

• VMI made history this week when it appeared in the national rankings for the first time as an FCS program. The Keydets, who visit Samford on Saturday and own wins over then-No. 10 Furman, Western Carolina and Mercer this spring, debuted at No. 19 in the Stats Perform poll and at No. 18 in the AFCA poll.

• Samford will be taking on its third straight ranked opponent. After falling 44-37 in overtime to then-No. 17 Furman on March 6, the Bulldogs toppled then-No. 20 Wofford 37-31 last weekend. Saturday’s contest will pit the SoCon’s top scoring offense in Samford (36.5 points per game) against the top scoring defense in VMI (11.3 ppg).

• VMI quarterback Reece Udinski is just 219 passing yards back of school record-holder Al Cobb’s career total of 7,727, which ranks 10th in SoCon history. Udinski is averaging 244.7 passing yards per game through three contests this season.

• Samford safety Chris Edmonds had an interception and forced a fumble in the Bulldogs’ win over Wofford, earning SoCon Defensive Player of the Week presented by GEICO honors for the second straight week.

• The Citadel, which hosts ETSU this Saturday, pitched a second-half shutout against Western Carolina in its 21-14 loss and produced a pair of 100-yard rushers in Jaylan Adams (131 yards) and Nathan Storch (125 yards), who each ran for a touchdown.

• ETSU led 15th-ranked Furman 10-0 at the half on March 13 but was outscored by the Paladins 17-3 in the second half. Quay Holmes rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown in the contest, moving into sixth place in program history in rushing yards. Redshirt sophomore defensive back Mike Price had a career-best 10 tackles and Donovan Manuel intercepted a pass for the second straight game.
