Furman’s Morgan named Women’s Golfer of the Week

Tied for sixth at Valspar Augusta Invitational, shot 8-under-par 208

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Anna Morgan has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 10-16. The selection is made by the conference office. 
 
Morgan tied for sixth in a field of 89 players, which included eight top-50 ranked players and 10 top-50 teams, at the Valspar August Invitational on March 13 and 14. On Saturday, Morgan was even with four birdies in the day's opening round then shot a 3-under-par 69 with a team-high six birdies in round two. The sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, fired a final-round 5-under 67 with a team-high seven birdies on the final day, moving up eight spots in the loaded field.
 
Morgan shot 8-under 208 and averaged a score of 69.33 through the tournament’s three rounds and led the Paladins to an eighth-place finish. 
 
Next up for the Furman Paladins is the Clemson Invitational on March 26-28 in Sunset, South Carolina, at the Reserve at Lake Keowee Golf Course. 
 
Also nominated: Bailey Dunstan (Samford), Beatriz Barrios (Chattanooga), Victoria Ladd (Western Carolina) and Lindsey Hollis (Wofford).
