SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga forward Kendra Mueller and Samford goalkeeper Morgan McAslan have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all games from March 9-15. The players of the week are selected by the league office.
 
Mueller, a redshirt freshman, scored the game-winner in each of Chattanooga’s two wins on the week. The native of Hendersonville, Tennessee, made her first start of the season against ETSU on March 12 after battling back from a season-ending injury a season ago. She took just one shot and netted the golden goal in double overtime, pushing the ball past the defense and giving Chattanooga a 2-1 victory. On Sunday, she scored the game-winner in the 69^th minute against Western Carolina. Mueller collected a ball that was served into the box and deflected her way, pushing it past the Catamounts’ goalkeeper to put the Mocs ahead 2-1 en route to the win.
 
McAslan, a junior from Waterdown, Ontario, Canada, posted a solo shutout against Western Carolina, facing four shots and recording three saves, as the Bulldogs won 3-0 on March 12. She played 70:44 minutes, registered a save and combined for a shutout as Samford won 5-0 against VMI.
 
Up next, Chattanooga (3-0-1, 2-0-1 SoCon) heads on the road for the first time, taking on Furman (4-0, 4-0) on Friday, March 19, and Wofford (2-1-1, 2-1-1) on Sunday, March 21, while Samford (2-1-2, 2-0-1) plays at Wofford on Friday and at Furman on Sunday.
 
Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Isabella Gutierrez (Furman), Kendall Cook (Mercer), Taylor Yount (Samford) and Mia Bookhard (Wofford).  

Also nominated for defensive player of the week: Nora Sampson (Furman), Jordyn Ebert (Mercer), Ashley Avelino (UNCG) and Paige Miller (Wofford).
