SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference named its volleyball players of the week Tuesday for games played March 9-15. Wofford middle blocker Sarah Barham was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Western Carolina libero Destinee Dorsey was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and ETSU’s Emily Arnold was named the Setter of the Week. The players of the week are selected by the league office.

Barham hit .741 with zero errors as Wofford swept a pair of matches at UNCG. In Sunday’s match, the freshman from Summerfield, North Carolina, hit .786 with 11 kills on 14 swings. She added a service ace and five blocks in the 3-0 win. The following day, the middle blocker hit .692 with nine kills on 13 attempts, again adding a service age and tacking on three blocks.

Dorsey, a freshman, earns her second defensive honor of the season after averaging 6.00 digs per set as the Catamounts won a pair of matches against Mercer, which currently sits second in the league standings and entered the series riding a nine-match win streak with just one league loss. In the first match on March 14, Dorsey finished with a match-high 20 digs, adding six assists and a service ace in the 3-0 win. The native of Mobile, Alabama, led the Catamounts with 16 digs a day later, helping her squad to another 3-0 win.

Arnold, a sophomore, averaged 11.62 assists per set as ETSU split a pair of matches against The Citadel. The native of Louisville, Kentucky, dished out a match-high 41 assists in a 3-0 win on March 14 and tallied a match-high 52 assists a day later. She added nine digs, two kills and two blocks in the series.  

Wofford (9-4, 9-4 SoCon) hosts Furman (4-8, 4-8) on Sunday, March 21, and Monday, March 22, while Western Carolina (8-7, 8-5) is off until hosting the Terriers for a midweek makeup contest March 25. ETSU (5-7, 5-7) plays at Mercer (10-7, 9-3) on Sunday and Monday.

Also nominated for setter of the week: Katie Murphy (Furman), Corinne Meglic (Samford), Hannah Price (Western Carolina) and Emily Hodsdon (Wofford).
