SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches released their all-district teams Tuesday. UNC Greensboro’s Isaiah Miller was the only SoCon representative on the USBWA’s All-District III team, while the NABC named All-District 21 first and second teams full of SoCon recipients and named VMI’s Dan Earl the district’s coach of the year.
 
The USBWA awards are based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year. The NABC squads are selected by NABC-member head coaches in NCAA Division I.
 
UNCG’s Miller was one of 10 players on the USBWA’s All-District III team, which encompasses schools from North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Maryland. For each of the nine geographic districts, 10 players are selected as well as a player and coach of the year.
 
Miller, the SoCon’s Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and tournament Most Outstanding Player, is joined on the NABC All-District 21 first team by The Citadel’s Hayden Brown, ETSU’s Ledarrius Brewer, Furman’s Mike Bothwell and Wofford’s Storm Murphy.
 
Furman’s Clay Mounce, Mercer’s Ross Cummings, Chattanooga’s Malachi Smith, VMI’s Greg Parham and Western Carolina’s Mason Faulkner comprise the second team.
 
VMI’s Earl was named the SoCon Coach of the Year by his colleagues and the league’s media.
