TUSCON, Ariz. —After a stellar performance at the plate with four home runs and a 1.385 slugging percentage in ETSU’s four games this week, ETSU Baseball’s senior outfielder Ethan Cady (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) was named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week.
Cady has reached base in every game this season and went 5-for-13 at the plate with 9 RBI this week. All five of Cady’s hits this weekend went for extra bases with four HR and a double to post a slugging percentage of 1.385.
Cady’s first HR of the week came in Tuesday’s shutout victory over Radford to give ETSU a 6-0 lead in the 7th. On Friday, the Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native hit two three-run homers in back-to-back innings, becoming the first Buc to hit two three-run home runs in a game since Caleb Longley on March 10, 2017 against Gardner Webb. The starting right fielder hit a two-run bomb in game one of Saturday’s DH in the first inning to give the Bucs the lead in their 5-1 game one win.
He was walked in three of his final four plate appearances in the game. Cady hit .385 and drew four walks for a .529 on-base percentage in ETSU’s four games.
The Bucs are back in action tomorrow, March 16 as they travel to Knoxville to face the 13th-ranked Volunteers.
