SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Emilia Alfaro has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played March 8-14, the conference office announced Monday.

Alfaro, a redshirt  sophomore, won her second straight singles match, her lone match of the week, and picked up a doubles win as ETSU downed Mercer on March 10 in the conference opener for both squads.

The native of Azul, Argentina, allowed Mercer’s Lauren Rich to win just one game, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4. Alfaro and teammate Laylo Bakhodirova were dominant in a 6-0 win at No. 2.

ETSU (6-7, 1-0 SoCon) heads to Florida to play at FIU on Wednesday, March 17, and at USF on Friday, March 19.
