Furman's Kozarov named women's tennis player of the week

Senior collects third weekly honor of the season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Katarina Kozarov has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 22-28, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Kozarov, a senior, collects her third weekly honor of the season after going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No.1 doubles as No. 23 Furman swept Western Carolina on Feb. 23 to move to 1-0 in SoCon play and defeated Charlotte (4-0) and Kennesaw State (6-1) on Feb. 27.  
 
In singles play, 15th-ranked Kozarov won both of her matches in straight sets, defeating Western Carolina’s Kata Foldeak 6-1, 6-2 and downing Charlotte’s Margaux Maquet by an identical score.
 
In doubles play, Kozarov and teammate Julia Adams, ranked 27th as a duo, defeated Western Carolina’s top pair 6-2, Charlotte’s top duo 6-0 and Kennesaw State’s No. 1 pair 6-3.
 
Furman (9-5, 1-0 SoCon) plays at UCF on Saturday, March 6.
