SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Rossouw Norval has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 1-7, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Norval, a senior, went 1-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 3 doubles in the Bulldogs’ lone match of the week, a 7-0 sweep of Alabama State.
 
In singles play, the native of Stellenbosch, South Africa, won 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 against Alabama State’s top player.
 
In doubles play, Norval and partner Mohammed Ali Bellalouna earned a 6-2 win.
 
Samford (3-4) plays at Lipscomb on Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Bulldogs’ lone contest of the week.
