UAB's Kohan named Student-Athlete of the Week

Holds a 3.77 GPA, led the No. 19 Blazers to three conference wins Saturday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UAB’s Amy Kohan has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Jan. 27-Feb. 2. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
On Saturday, Kohan led the Blazers with an aggregate score of 1152 and took home second overall. The sophomore shot 565 in smallbore and 587 in air rifle, leading to conference wins against The Citadel, Wofford and VMI. Kohan leads No. 19 UAB in aggregate average (1152.8) and air rifle average (583.8) and is among the league’s top-10 averages in smallbore (569), air rifle and aggregate.
 
The Arlington, Virginia, sophomore holds a 3.77 grade point average and is majoring in electrical engineering.
 
The Blazers went 6-1 in conference matches this season and will return to action on Feb. 20 in Statesboro, Georgia, for the 2021 NCAA Rifle Qualifiers.
 
Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: Olivia Cunningham (ETSU volleyball), Natalie Armstrong (Samford women’s basketball) and Gylian Finch (Chattanooga volleyball).
