INDIANAPOLIS – North Georgia’s Kimberlee Nettles has been selected by the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Rifle Committee to compete in the 2021 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Rifle Championships in air rifle and Georgia Southern’s Ashley Judson was named an alternate in the same discipline, the national office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Nettles is the first North Georgia rifle athlete to compete in the NCAA championships. Nettles is coming off tying her personal best of 593 in the NCAA qualifier last weekend. She is a three-time all-conference honoree, making the first team last season.
Judson, Georgia Southern’s team captain, shot a personal-best 592 at the NCAA qualifier and was named the SoCon Air Rifle Athlete of the Month for November and January. The sophomore holds a 585.222 average in the discipline.
A total of 48 competitors will compete in the championships with 40 of them coming from the eight qualifying teams. The remaining individual competitors were selected based on the scores submitted from the designated qualifier.
The air rifle portion of the championship will be held Saturday, March 13, at Ohio State's Converse Hall in Columbus, Ohio
