SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Noah Gurley has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Feb. 16-22 after averaging 20 points and shooting 75 percent from the floor in a pair of wins. The award is selected by the league office.
Gurley averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in wins over Samford and Mercer. He went 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 7-for-9 (77.8 percent) from the free-throw line.
In the Paladins’ 78-68 win over Samford on Wednesday, Gurley went 6-for-8 (.750) from the floor en route to 16 points. He became the 47th member of Furman’s 1,000-point club in the winning effort, adding three rebounds on the day.
Three days later, the redshirt junior from Fayetteville, Georgia, notched his second double-double of the 2020-21 campaign with a season-high 24 points and 10 rebounds, this time going 9-for-12 (.750) from the floor. He added an assist, a blocked shot and a steal in the 70-60 win at Mercer.
Furman (15-7, 9-4 SoCon) returns to action Wednesday when it hosts The Citadel (12-10, 5-10) at 7 p.m. before closing the regular season at Wofford (14-8, 11-5) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week on select Nexstar affiliates.
