GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman women’s tennis team is ranked 24th nationally in this week’s Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I poll, eclipsing the highest ranking in program history.  The Paladins’ previous highest rank of 35th was achieved in March of 2020.

Furman sports a 5-5 and put together a four-match winning streak with wins over Alabama, No. 16 Wake Forest, 18th-ranked South Carolina, and Virginia Tech earlier in the season.

Paladin senior Katarina Kozarov is ranked 15th nationally in singles, and the Furman doubles team of Kozarov and junior Julia Adams is ranked 27th nationally.  Kozarov is 9-0 at flight one singles with victories over six ranked opponents, while Kozarov and Adams are 6-2 at flight one. 

“This is another really big step for our team and our program,” said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen.  “We have been working toward this for a long time, and this group just continues to improve every single day and could not be more deserving of earning our first ever top 25 ranking.  We are just getting started.  The job is not done!”
